Favorite British comedy shows | #1
What are your favorite British comedy shows?
I have many and I though a thread would be a great place to share the ones we love and at the same time, possibly introduce other's to new shows they might enjoy. -------------- Currently watching :: A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Season(s) :: 4 Starring :: Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry Available for streaming on :: Hulu I have always been a fan of these two actors and this show was heaven sent. I can watch it over and over again. It makes me laugh every time.

Black Books - Alcohol, people who hate people dealing with people, and...alcohol. On Netflix!
Vicar of Dibley - Early 90's Dawn French? Yes please. Netflix! Sometimes. Inbetweeners - Awful things happening to awfully awkward teenagers. Also, Netflix. Blackadder - Rowan Atkinson's early work, him sniveling his way through history. Sadly, no longer on Netflix. Also, Hugh Laurie in season...3, I think. IT Crowd - Laugh track gets annoying, but a very enjoyable show. Best Windows joke setup of all time. Netflix!

Not sure how many we actually get over here that aren't altered in some way. I would mostly watch British mysteries. I remember "Are You being Served?" on TV when I was a kid but I didn't understand it. Now I watch it once and a while if I see it on, or sit with my mom and watch "Keeping Up Appearances," usually picked up from the local library.

Oh right, I guess Black Adder, Monty Python, and Mr. Bean count, though I never watched much Black Adder.

I'd add my own favorites, except that you guys pretty much covered them all. The only one you missed was:
Red Dwarf: Space shenanigans, a guy is a cat for some reason, and everyone's dead. They're all dead, Dave. Not sure if it's streaming anywhere, but it's worth looking into.

I think I've only encountered Red Dwarf when there's been a marathon for public broadcasting donations. I wrote a short story draft where the captain of a space ship likes to watch it. He thinks cats on space ships are bad luck, and when the crew finds one he says that if it starts demanding a wardrobe, it goes.

Sloane ::
Yes! Yes! Yes! All the yes! Quiet Man :: My mom would watch Keeping up Appearances on OPB (Oregon Public Broadcasting) every Saturday night. It was an awesome show to watch! Also they would air Vicar of Dibley, Father Ted, etc. Such a cozy way to spend the evening. Blackadder is one of my favorites...minus the first season which I felt Edmond was too creepy for me. XD Cupcake :: My manbeast loves Red Dwarf. I have yet to watch it, but I know at some point he'll get me to sit down and watch it. X3 Glitchy :: I'm sure it does. I believe I have heard of that show but I cannot recall what it is about. >__<; call me 'kitty' || questing || all teh monies || || pseudo-goth | rennie | geek

Shit I wish I could remember the name of it. It was a horror comedy series, revolving around like, 6 or so different people. Each person had their own story line. I believe they all eventually met up. Im being vague because I haven't watched it in forever.
One character was a midget. Another was this middle aged woman who carried a baby doll around, and considered it her actual baby. There was one character who was a clown. I know there way more, but I can not remember much. I'm Jessi. non binary, pansexual. she/her they/them. I age regress. signs I’m regressin- when I say haihai (or just hai) when I use cute emotes like - o u o. sometimes I like txt talk too, it’s like me slipping out of “adult speak” I NEED posting currency, I have 90 runes to sell.

Being English I have the luxury of watching these sorts of shows anytime on regular television really. I love Black Books, Red Dwarf, Spaced (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost before their famous films), Black Adder, Fawlty Towers (set in a hotel in Torquay where many bad/funny things happen) which stars John Cleese as the owner, Inbetweeners, 8 out of 10 cats (a quiz/comedy panel show hosted by Jimmy Carr) and The Last Leg (a satirical show about what has been happening in the news/world and is hosted by 3 guys with limbs missing/disabilities) to name but a few of my favourites.

I'm English and I grew up with Red Dwarf and The Young Ones being two of my favourite shows. I'd say Father Ted is another but it's Irish so it doesn't technically count as British. xD
The Mighty Boosh is another one of my favourites, same with a few of the shows with some of the same cast members like The IT Crowd (which has a live audience btw, not a laugh track) and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. How Not To Live Your Life is quite amusing too. I generally watch more American shows these days though, a lot of the new comedies I've seen on TV lately here have been terrible. :c ![]()
