Recently a friend of mine has been attack by a bunch of people and almost killed she has been out of the hospital for a week now she had to get Surgery to fix her heart and to make sure her lunges weren't to damaged but were they cut her open it is a little healed but there is a little puss coming out of it and i dunno if it could be possible infected or something she does not like the hospital so getting her to go is really hard so i wanna know if it could be something that could turn into something life threatening being the cut near her Organs and stuff ? X.X

Well one, she should still had it bandaged up. Two unless the puss is yellow or green she is fine. Puss when dealing with stitches is normal since they probably broke open her sternum.

Shes does have it bandaged but she likes showing people her battle wounds -.- and the last time she showed it to are friends i saw some puss so i was a little worried

and ok its not yellow or green but now i know what to look for shes vary careless -.-

Rubor, calor, dolor, tubor (et functio laesa) are the usual signs of infection. If it is red, warm, painful and raised up then it is probably infected. I tell you I, personally, would be careful since multiple types of bacteria can cause necrotizing fasciitis.

Anyhow there is not much you can do but you should let her know about that girl in the hospital who has lost her leg, part of her abdomen and now her fingers because her leg got infected. It's like front page CNN.

Watch the pus. It might be clear and fine now, but it can start that way and turn nasty. She needs to keep the wound covered and everything. Show it when it becomes a battle scar.

Oh my that sounds horrible... i will tell her that and i will watch the puss and cut vary closely to make sure its fine

Is it crusty or fresh looking? If it's just crust that might be seepage. I've had to clean wounds after surgery on myself and some crusting is not too big a deal, and some yellowish gick on the bandage is not that bad either, so long as it's not eccessive. Watch out for a fever. An infected wound will generally look red and be sore and warm in my experience, and can go away on it's own with basic first aid or if your immune system is in good shape, but a fever is a major indicator that your body is fighting something and a fever soon after surgery should not be ignored.

well shes fine she stopped showing it off and i been watching and she has no signs of a fever so i think she is fine she also said it didnt hurt or look that red

Having personally had open heart surgery- and thus having my chest cut open for the operation- I can say from experience that a little leakage is fairly normal. As long as she keeps herself clean and watches for the area becoming red, painful, and/or swollen and going to the doctor at the first signs of that, she should be fine. Puss like that is probably her body's immune system killing off and expelling foreign bacteria, like when you get bitten by a bug and the bite mark will have a small pocket of puss in it. As long as you drain it and keep it clean, it will heal up just fine.

that is really helpful i clean it for her ^.^ so as long as i am taking care of her things should be fine :P but it is healing vary well so i don't think i have to worry much anymore but still some what o .o
