Default The Wolf Gift - By Anne Rice   #1
The Wolf Gift
Anne Rice

When Reuben Golding, a young reporter on assignment, arrives at a secluded mansion on a bluff high above the Pacific, it’s at the behest of the home’s enigmatic female owner. She quickly seduces him, but their idyllic night is shattered by violence when the man is inexplicably attacked—bitten—by a beast he cannot see in the rural darkness. It will set in motion a terrifying yet seductive transformation that will propel Reuben into a mysterious new world and raise profound questions. Why has he been given the wolf gift? What is its true nature--good or evil? And are there others out there like him?

Reviews:

Quote:
“Vintage Anne Rice—a lushly written, gothic…metaphysical tale. This time, with werewolves.”
—The Wall Street Journal

“Intoxicating.”
—USA Today

“A delectable cocktail of old-fashioned lost-race adventure, shape-shifting and suspense, brightened by enticing hints of a secret history.”
—Elizabeth Hand, The Washington Post

“A fast-paced, heady romp that ranks with [Rice’s] best…. Feisty and terrific fun.”
—Joy Tipping, Dallas Morning News

“I want to howl at the moon over this…. Rice’s style [is] as solid and engaging as anything she has written since her early vampire chronicle fiction.”
—Alan Cheuse, The Boston Globe
That last one from the Boston Globe really caught my attention. I loved the earlier books of the Vampire Chronicles and if this new books is like those, I can't WAIT to read it! The story summary given on her site is interesting enough, and I am happy she's back to writing gothic-fantasy like books again.

The next part in the series "The Wolves of Mid-Winter" is to come out in December.

What about you? Does this interest you? Are you happy she's started a new gothic-fantasy series. What do you hope for out of this series? Have you already read the first book?

Lets talk about this book series here :3

It's over 9000!
End of last month I finally started to read her Vampire Chronicles and going to start book 3 tomorrow. I preordered the new Wolf book as soon as it was listed and recently bought the first one. I can't wait to read any of them. I love her works. I know she will not disappoint in this new series.
