I think that was one of the things where you had to look up the actual mechanics of it. It was based on their speed, I believe, but it still wasn't very reliable.
I just meant, theoretically, the dragoon abilities could be more useful on a grid since you have spears with 2 range or even diagonal attacks like Disgaea, and dragon breath attacks could be really useful in that sort of system, too.
Ah that's kind of cool. I think they get some of Freya's abilities in this and I know they have elemental breath attacks, but they're based on magic and they're weaker than high level spells, and they cost a ton of mp, so... Kind of useless. I think the class would work better in a tactics type game. I'd still prefer they have more than jump on their skill set though
I only have the basic ones unlocked right now, which I guess red Mage is my favorite out of those. Overall probably dark knight or paladin once I get them, if they're anything like Cecil's versions of them.
And, of course, Dragoon is a disappointing class. (I just unlocked it) I don't know if it's ever been useful in a single FF game. Wasting a turn to jump for double damage is just... pointless? I guess it gets them out of harm's way, but they're supposed to be tanky, so....
It's a brand new old-school-style Final Fantasy. I'd say it's closest to 5 with its job system. It's interesting, though, because you actually control two parties, one gets jobs from the Light crystal and the other gets jobs from the Dark crystal, so you have different pools of jobs to play with. I'm guessing they join up before the end. >_>
