    And that's why I ask so many questions. :P Translation can't be done on a word-for-word basis, especially if you're trying for something poetic or natural; you have to understand what you're trying to say before you can say it.

    Hmm... well, perhaps "maboroshi tsuke", which would translate literally to "the putting-on of the phantom".

    Id say using the phantom. My character creates the phantom. The technique is called "shakunetsu maboroshi" in which he creates it. Then he can equip it through possession... If that makes sense.

    That does help. It disambiguates between "something you own" and "controlling someone's body". The remaining question is if you're possessing the phantom, or if you're possessing USING the phantom.
