he tried to smile, tried to remember the sad look of a man lost at sea that seemed to him so long ago to have happened. if failed him now and all he could offer is a tepid not-frown. he walked surly and steadily though proving if nothing else his legs still were working and able. he responded to the bright smile and cheery greeting with an equilly luke-warm 'hullo' he was not as ready as he thought, obviously he was in no more position to bear this than when he knew nothing more than a glimpse at a young man's diary art and a strange feeling in his stomache.however when he stepped past the gate though it was too late to turn back. he refrained from grasping the talisman in his pocket and instead focused on the necklace of the man in front of him refusing eye contact but also refusing to look away. no victories but also no failures.
