I think the way they talked about it *is trying to dig up the link now* is the body becomes accustomed to sleeping that little bit and makes REM sleep easier to get into for that person. As soon as they lay down for that "nap" they go into a REM sleep. So missing a single 20-30 minute nap would be similar to missing an entire night's sleep, I think...lol
I couldn't do it because I like having a semi-regular schedule. Currently, work is reaking havoc on my sleep schedule, so I get that tired feeling all the time...they're switching me from third to first back to third, over and over.
