Honestly i would say that Gw2 appears to be doing a whole lot more to break away from the standard MMO style than Tera is. Guild wars doesn't have all the usual generic quest stuff. You don't go to a person get a quest, kill a bunch of mobs standing around doing nothing, then go back to him. You simply run across event and quests actually happening. Instead of a quest text telling you something is happening, you see it.

I've been watching both Tera and GW2, and I'm not a die hard GW fan, but has certainly come out top for me. Massive server vs server battles, no grinding (no level curve), quests that PVP that is skill based rather than gear (you all get scaled up to the max level and have default PVP armour) the aesthetic art style.
The only thing that I have seen in Tera that interests me and seems different is the fighting style, but at the same time GW2 also has a new take on MMO combat as well.
