ooh that sounds cool!
i have a pair of socks to make, maybe. a Pomni plushie for my nephew (reminds me, i have to see if i have yellow felt). and maybe something for the WIPs Wrestling. we'll see what i have in-progress....

Kaderin Triste 07-21-2024 08:40 PM

Was a little nervous about the mystery loom-a-long project but, assuming the second half is basically the same as the first but decreasing the side we increased, it should be a pretty easy craft.

trystan830 07-22-2024 09:07 AM

sounds like a plan!

I'm away for a few days, and did I bring my book? of course not...
To be fair, it is a rather long book, and I probably wouldn't get more than 3 pages read anyway XD

Kaderin Triste 07-24-2024 04:58 PM

Oh nooo! But...but what if you would have been able to get a lot of reading done?!?
xD

trystan830 07-24-2024 05:05 PM

nah, it was fine. I wouldn't have gotten any reading done XD

Kaderin Triste 07-27-2024 12:38 PM

Ugh, debating if I want to frog and restart on my dragon gloves for the Ravellenics because I realized I might be a little short on scales (I ordered more, but not sure if they'll arrive on time), so since it was a mix of assorted metallics, I threw in my extra frost (sort of a frosty light silver) scales...but I was already about 1/3 done with the first glove so this might throw off the color balance and might be odd that it doesn't appear in the first part of the glove? Idk. I hate frogging and I don't have a lot of free time to work on Ravellenics stuff tbh...
Should I restart anyway?

trystan830 07-27-2024 10:06 PM

i probably wouldn't.
but i'll be joining the games late because I'm still working on this cross stitch for my older daughter's birthday. it's at the end of august, but hubby is going back across the state at the beginning of the month, so i want to try to have it done by then.

Kaderin Triste 07-28-2024 11:06 AM

Lol, yeah I didn't. I did think it through though and took the frost scales back out when I started on the second glove (and will re-add them at a certain point) so they'll have a similar subtle gradient and it will look intentional...

trystan830 07-28-2024 03:54 PM

sounds good!
don't forget to post pics! :)

Kaderin Triste 07-28-2024 07:12 PM

Yes! I will have to get a pic of the first one tonight if I don't forget after work!
And for sure pics when they're finished too!

trystan830 07-28-2024 08:24 PM

nice!
i'm making a Pomni for my nephew as an item for the 'Toy Toss' event

Kaderin Triste 07-29-2024 11:05 AM

That sounds like a fun project!

Progress of first glove (still need to weave in ends, I just tucked them in for the pic, but that's easy):

And am almost to the thumbhole on the second one currently.

trystan830 07-29-2024 11:24 AM

oh that's very cool!!

are you familiar with Pomni and The Amazing Digital Circus? my brother (he's a whole 'nother story) kinda pestered me to watch it (there's 2 episodes out), and i kinda ended up liking it XD

Kaderin Triste 07-29-2024 05:15 PM

Thanks!

Ah, I mean, I googled Pomni to see what it looked like, but I've never heard of the show.

trystan830 07-29-2024 10:10 PM

ah okay. makes sense.

Kaderin Triste 08-01-2024 01:35 PM

Was close to freaking myself out about how much I still need to do for my Ravellenics projects....but I still have about a week and am basically 50% done with the mystery Loom-a-long scarf (thinking of adding maybe 1 or 2 more increase sections depending on if I have enough of one yarn color), maybe 65% done with the scale gloves (basically at the thumbhole of the second), and then just have an easy, maybe 5 hours at most to make Mothman plushie...so...could finish 2 of the projects on my days off if I really push for it. Lol

trystan830 08-01-2024 05:14 PM

you can do it! yay! :)

i'm also still reading it City of Refuge. it's a huge book, an inter-library loan, that they said i could renew one time. i got an email the other day saying it's due Friday, they tried to renew it but couldn't, so it's still due Friday. i went on the site and was able to renew it until the end of the month.... but i want to see if i can't finish it by tomorrow. wow!

I'm almost done Pomni. hmm... read or crochet? it's amigurumi, so i can't do both....

trystan830 08-03-2024 09:42 PM

also, Pomni:
https://www.ravelry.com/projects/try...migurumi-pomni

and I finished City of Refuge. i need to update my list, but another time. XD

Kaderin Triste 08-08-2024 12:12 PM

Awww, that looks awesome!
And yay for finishing another book too!

I finished my gloves and noticed a big oops with the bind off on one that some clever stitching for weaving in ends hopefully fixes/hides, but if it's worse than I think, I may have to remake it if I decide to sell these ones. But now is panic time for me since I still have half of my mystery L-a-l scarf plus a mothman plushie to try to finish in the next couple days....and a VERY busy Friday (gym, then helping a friend with a little yard sale, then pet-sitting for same friend for a few hours) so I might not have much time to work on anything, though I'll bring projects anyway.

trystan830 08-08-2024 09:51 PM

thanks. i finished two more quick reads, (still need to update my list on page 1) and now I'm finishing up a bathmat for the bathroom for the Ravellenics.

oooh, those gloves are NICE! :)

trystan830 08-31-2024 06:48 PM

it's been a minute. or close to a month. I've done a LOT of reading. I'm reading the Vampire Knitting Club, and the main library i go to has all but the newest book in the series. there's two spin-off series that the library doesn't have, i need to see about putting in an ILL when i get there. in the meantime, these Vampire Knitting Club books are like pototoe chip cozy mysteries. i borrow two at a time, and then request the next two XD I'm almost caught up XD

Kaderin Triste 10-20-2024 01:14 PM

Finally forcing myself to get into audio books (I tend to tune them out a lot, though using a faster speed acually helps) because I'm behind on my library 50 book challenge. I think I still have 8 or 9 books to get through before Christmas basically.

trystan830 10-20-2024 09:32 PM

i need to update my sig and my list.
I'm reading book #57 for this year - the Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. LeGuin.
my goal was more than 48 :D

Kaderin Triste 10-21-2024 03:10 PM

Lol, I'd say you hit that goal!
I just hit my GR and Trisphee (need to massively updat the list on here still...oops!)goal of 60 books, but am 8 books away from the 50 for the themed challenge at work. And basically need to finish 1 book every 8 days to make it.

trystan830 10-21-2024 10:58 PM

heh yes i did. but i only have 48 books on my list here, I'm a little behind updating here, but it's updated on goodreads and storygraph.

ooh, good luck with your themed challenge!

Kaderin Triste 10-24-2024 12:57 PM

Phew, finally got my list on here updated. Increased my goodreads goal to 70 just because, though I don't know if I'll quite make it.
Should be able to finish at least one more today.
And thanks, I thankfully knocked out the hardest categories (for me) already so it's just stuff like "author's last name starts with 'j'" or "book by a native author".

trystan830 10-24-2024 10:46 PM

oh those categories sound like fun -_-

maybe over the weekend I'll get my list here updated. :)

Kaderin Triste 11-20-2024 12:39 PM

I should take a pic of the challenges. They're actually pretty fun...mostly. I had a hard time with some of the non-fic type options like "current events" and "business, marketing, or entrepreneurship". But it definitely was good for getting me out of my reading comfort zone and trying new stuff.

Only 4 more to go for the challenge! Still cutting it kinda close (especially with last-minuteChristmas projects to make), but I should be able to finish them.

trystan830 11-20-2024 08:51 PM

oh yay! i really need to update my list, and sig - I'm reading book #60 for this year! one of these days.....

Kaderin Triste 12-03-2024 01:33 PM

Here's the reading challenges we had!
https://i.postimg.cc/85rPfX3c/20241127-094718.jpg

Down to 1.5ish books to go in a little over 20 days. And thanks to audiobooks and last minute gift making (turns out audiobooks at 1.7x speed plus a knitting pattern with an easy-ish pattern repeat is the best way for me to actually pay attention to the book), I think I'll make it.

trystan830 12-03-2024 10:57 PM

oh wow, very cool!
i... still need to update my list. *sigh*
I'm reading book #61 right now - Star, by Erin Hunter

Kaderin Triste 12-04-2024 04:06 PM

I swear, updating our lists is literally the hardest part of the reading challenges. xD

trystan830 12-04-2024 06:14 PM

lol, yes it is.
i'll get there, i promise.

trystan830 12-26-2024 09:54 PM

i updated my sig and my list of books! I'm currently reading book #64! and that's probably my count for 2024.

i do plan on hosting this again next year, so.... watch this space.

Kaderin Triste 01-06-2025 11:47 AM

I was about 4 hours if an audiobook away from actually finishing my 50 book challenge, but just couldn't get motivated to actually finish it. xP
I thiink I still have to slightly update my list on here, but I definitely hit my GR and here goal with a solid 71 books.

trystan830 01-06-2025 02:05 PM

i finished my last book of 2024 on December 30th - Now or Never by Janet Evanovich.

i need to post up the new 2025 challenge in the next day or so, promise! :D

trystan830 01-06-2025 11:09 PM

tada!
new thread!

and it's linked in my sig - the word "reading"
and i have a book finished already! XD
