The tale I have told you,
That tale is a lie.
But listen to me,
Bright maiden, proud youth
The tale is a lie;
What it tells is the truth.”

There are things I watch specifically because I think they are beautiful to look at, sometimes it is the actors, sometimes it is the scenery... but Interview was never one of them. Mostly because I find most of the characters either insufferably whiney or waaay too egotistical. Both of these things are canon for these characters, and I found-it just as annoying in the books, but whatever *is rambling and forgot the point of this paragraph*

If you're still hungry after all that, how about a big ripe banana?

Ironically when I first read Anne Rice in my teenage years I didn't realize how untolerably bad some parts of it are. I remember I never liked Lestat but that's about it, the other characters seemed alright to me back then. Nowadays I think the vast majority of chapters just fulfill Rice's secret fantasies.

Not that there's anything wrong with writing people you wish you could meet in real life. In fact if I had a dollar any time I cared way more for a fictional character than an actual human being I'd have enough money to pay for all the therapy I obviously need.

And geez - put your food porn in spoiler tags next time! You're more than welcome to join in, but there are rules to obey.

Hrm, fair point. One banana, 89 calories. Ten slices of pizza, 2660 calories.

Got to balance it with extra exercise.

I thought I did put it in spoil tags, my bad. XD

I feel like it is fine to love the characters if it is someone else's character, but when you're an author loving your own characters too much... you give them too much plot armor.

I certainly did when I was younger. Part of what always fascinated me about writing was it felt a tiny bit like playing god with the fates of all those lovely characters. Kill one off? No problem. Make one invincible? No problem either. So in my early story attempts you could easily tell the characters I disliked (and thus made suffer) from those I loved (aka the sure-fire winners). Nowadays I take pride in whenever my readers can't tell who I'd elope with to Vegas and who I'll keep in the dungeon.

Its not the suffering for me, but rather the perseverance that makes me love a character.

That... doesn't look safe. Sure, every street fighter needs proper training - but you could fall down those stairs any moment. Have you ever considered a more direct approach to violence?

However I agree, perseverance is a good thing.

Yeah, cuz keeping someone in a dungeon means you don't like them at all... *coughs awkwardly*

Y'all are killin me with these. They're just getting worse.
