Surprisingly, sleep came very easily and quickly to him. He was exhausted from all of this so it was good for him to be able to sleep... The bed was comfortable enough that it wouldn't be a problem for him at all, so he wasn't worried about that... So he drifted into sleep really quickly, unlike usual.
---------------
Ever since he'd come here... There hadn't been a moment of peace. Not a moment. He was sent here because he didn't appreciate the wealth his family had or some bullshit like that... So he was supposed to actually do work. The most work he'd done so far is clean the stables and cook dinner once... So he wasn't breaking a sweat yet or anything. He didn't care if he had to work. It was better than sitting around and being yelled at by Thomas... He groaned inwardly as he pushed his hair out of his face. He looked down the hallway before he came out of the room he was supposed to stay in.

Every time he left, Thomas would have something to say and he was starting to get tired of it. It was even worse at night because then there was no work to do... Everything was done during the daytime because it was much easier to manage then... And that was good. It was early up and early to bed. He rather liked the change in his schedule... It was different. He usually woke up at like 10 am and then went to bed at about midnight when he lived at home... And he didn't really do anything there either because everything was handed to him...

Now, it was the moment of truth. He stepped out of his room and made his way down the hallway. He was tired of being in there and wanted to go sit out on the porch. He made it down the stairs safely, but he wasn't sure if his luck was going to hold out on him or not.

Thomas had had a normal day thus far. He had gotten at least a mile of fence done around the border of their land and was quite proud of his work for the day. He was enjoying this project now especially because he didn't have to see Narian except in the evening. His cousin had been annoying him to no end since he'd been there, always thinking of himself as better than everybody else.
He wasn't usually so hostile... but Narian brought out the worst in him for some reason.

Thomas was sitting at the small kitchen table when he saw said annoyance trying to sneak past him.
"Hey Narian. Where are you going?" he asked him in a monotone voice.

It all seemed good and clear, but then he heard a voice and all his mind did was scream, 'DAMMIT'. He turned and noticed the male that was so obsessed with hating him and he shoved his hands into his pockets, knowing he wasn't doing anything he wasn't allowed to do. He flipped his hair out of his face without using his hands and he just grimaced at the man who was questioning him.

"I'm going to live my life without being ostracized, Thomas," Narian said and then began to walk towards the porch again. "Actually. I just want a little fresh air outside on the porch is all. I'm not feeling too well." That wasn't a lie at all. His stomach was slightly queasy and he knew that if he were to sit outside in the nice, crisp air for a while that he would feel much better. His stomach wouldn't hurt in the least and he'd be much more relaxed.

Thomas felt his eye twitch at Narian's words but other than that he did not register any anger on his face. He just looked straight at his cousin with his bright blue eyes and after a couple of seconds he sighed.
"Hey, you're the one who can't follow the simple rules we have laid out. Maybe if you wouldn't be such a lazy, stuck up brat I wouldn't have to ask you where you're going, " Thomas said in a friendly voice, despite the words that were coming out if his mouth.
His cousin always made him incredibly angry, he didn't know how he managed to do it. As he glared at Narian he could feel the tendons in his neck stretching tightly under his sun-tanned skin. It was as if Narian had some involuntary effect on him that instantly made him angry.
Thomas took a deep breath through his nose and waited for what his cousin might say to him in retort this time.

"Heh. I've done my best to adapt to the changes and I've done everything that was asked of me. I'm sorry I'm not used to chores of this magnitude and I don't get them as fast as you would like them to be done," Narian scoffed out. He then pressed his hand on the door and made his way out of it. He then groaned inwardly, more than happy to actually be out of the house now. He inhaled deeply and then closed his eye for a moment. He walked over to the side of the porch and hopped up on the rail. He turned himself to look out at the sky and over a field, leaning on one of the banisters. He enjoyed the temperature much more out here than inside and the fresh air did wonders for his headache.

Just as Thomas was about to rebuttal Narian ran out of the house. He started to get up to go after him but ended up sitting back down, a scowl on his face. That kid shouldn't have such an effect on him. He took a few deep breaths and got up to go upstairs to the bathroom so that he could get showered before Sarah got back to fix dinner.

As Sarah arrived at the porch she was startled to see Narian up on the rail of it.
She gasped before she could stop herself, her nerves must be on high alert after what all had happened that night.
She put a smile on her face and walked up the steps and turned to her cousin.
"Hello Narian, what are you up to?"

When he heard the gasp from his cousin, Narian looked over at her and shook his head. He could tell that no one here really liked him and he was hoping that the two months he was supposed to be here would go by really quickly. He was surprised when he heard the words that came out of her mouth though. Then he remembered that Sarah didn't really hate him at all. That caused him to smile a little, for the first time since he'd come here.
"Nothing. Just sitting out here to get some fresh air. You were sure out for a long time. What have you been up to?" he asked her, noticing that she was getting in after dark. That wasn't like her.

The question caught her off guard even though she knew she'd have to answer it eventually that night. She wasn't one to hang out late. She paused for just a moment before flashing a small smile.
"Oh I just lost track of time in the stables with Yams," she said, wishing she didn't have to lie. But she couldn't say that she had found a man with wings and had brought him to the guest house so that she could fix him up.
She glanced down at the porch nervously, not able to help herself. Sarah was never very good at hiding things. She hoped Narian wouldn't be able to tell that something was off. He couldn't know her completely already... the only time they ever saw each other before he came here a couple days ago was when they were small kids.

It was obvious to anyone that she was lying... He just shrugged his shoulders and leaned onto the post again. He sighed softly and closed his eyes for a moment. He wasn't going to pry into her life because a girl like that doesn't lie without a good reason... So, she obviously didn't want anyone to find out and he didn't want to be the one that had to make her talk.
"Well, I'm sure that Yams enjoyed the extra company at least," he said with a smile as he turned back to look at her. "You better go inside before someone has to go out looking for you."

She jerked her head up with surprise at his response, she was used to living with an overprotective brother who didn't like her keeping secrets. Sarah wasn't bitter about Thomas being that way, she knew his intentions were good, but it was nice to have someone who didn't pry.
She flashed her teeth gratefully in a huge smile.
"Yes, I'm sure he did. Enjoy your fresh air," she said to him before walking into the old-fashioned farm house.
As she went inside she could hear the shower running, Thomas must be in there. She figured she should go ahead and get dinner started, he was bound to be hungry. Her stomach started to grumble as well, and she rubbed it with a frown before moving to the kitchen to take a look in the fridge.

She took out three wrapped chicken breasts, tomatoes, onion, and garlic out of the crisper, and went to the pantry for a box of store-bought spaghetti noodles.
Most of their food was grown at the farm but they did need to run into town to buy other ingredients as well.
She went through the process of making a chicken spaghetti dish; cutting up the meat and sauteing it, cooking the noodles, using the vegetables and some spices and herbs to create a homemade tomato sauce to pour over the chicken and noodles. Thomas was down the stairs in flannel pants and a white tank by the time it was ready.
Sarah turned to see him smelling the air with a satisfied expression on his face.
"Smells great Sarah," he said to her with a smile.
She smiled back at him and thanked him. She walked back to the fridge and took out a large salad bowl that held a simple, fresh salad that she had prepared earlier. Then she took out three plates from the cabinet and three salad bowls. She tossed the salad (Lol I had dirty thoughts |D) once more and put equal amounts in all three bowls. Then she took a serving of chicken spaghetti out of the dish it was in for each of them.
Finally she poured some homemade dressing onto the salads and set the meal on the table.
She quickly went to look out the door to tell Narian the food was ready and came back inside and sat down at the table next to Thomas.

Honestly, she didn't have to tell him to come into the house. He could smell it all the way out in the porch. He was at the door when she opened it to call him. He smelled the air and sighed out in satisfaction.
"Jeeze, that smells so great, Sarah. Thank you for making dinner," he said with a smile as he made his way into the house. He walked over to the table and sat down, not even bothering to look over at Thomas. He figured he just made the man angry by looking at him or something. He didn't like that though, so he was going to try to keep away from him or something. It was true that Narian was a bad influence and all, but he didn't need to be told stuff like that every time someone saw him. Sadly though, he wasn't really a spoiled rich kid like Thomas thought. Honestly, his parents were thinking about going through a rough divorce and if that happens, a lot of their things would just go to Narian because of the prenup that was signed... They wanted him to be able to appreciate things better before that happened or some bullshit like that. He didn't really know or care much. He just knew he was going to be stuck in hell for about two months.

The dinner was pretty awkward, Thomas and Narian trying their best to ignore each other. Sarah did not like it. She wished they would both quit being such morons and just learn to tolerate each other.
When the entire meal went by without a word, Sarah sighed heavily and stood up.
"Well then, I am going to be getting to bed. You two can clean up the dishes tonight, maybe you should talk to each other civilly instead of finding something to argue over," she said in a polite but deadly tone.
She was surprised that she was being so harsh, but she was tired that after just two days the farm was filled with an angry aura.
She stormed off out of the kitchen and up the stairs. After a quick shower she got into her pajamas and tucked herself into bed. She would be sure to check on Nickolai in the morning when everybody was doing the hard labor work. Immediately after her eyes closed shut she fell asleep, the events from earlier having exhausted her.

- -- - -- -

After his sister's quiet outburst Thomas just stared after her, his mouth hanging open. It wasn't like her to be so brash. It took him a few moments before he recovered himself, and after he did he glanced warily at Narian. As soon as the other man came into his view he grimaced and grumbled a bit immaturely.
"I guess we should clean up then," he said to Narian, quickly turning his nose up at him and picking up his and Sarah's plates. He walked over to the sink and began rinsing them off, waiting to see if his cousin would help him or if he would run off outside or to his room.

Shrugging his shoulders at what Sarah said, Narian didn't mind having to clean a few dishes... It wasn't many and he would be more than willing to, but then he remembered how much Thomas hated him. He sighed softly and stood from his chair, scrunching his nose at how Thomas acted when he took the plates to the side. He shook his head and stacked his cup and silverware on his plate, grabbing the napkins and tossing them in the trash can.
"You can go ahead and go do whatever if you don't want to do this," Narian said as he laid his dishes beside of the sink. "I'll clean all of this up." He really just didn't want to have to be in the same room as Thomas for that long. He would rather clean up the few dishes than share the task with someone for it to go faster.

Still cleaning off the two plates, Thomas looked out of the corner of his eye at Narian.
"I can do it..." he said, menace lacing his voice. He really didn't want to be doing this, but he wasn't going to just up and abandon the job, that would make him look like a hypocrite after always yelling at Narian about not doing his jobs. He finished cleaning off his own plate and set it in the drying rack.
"If you don't want to clean you can go to your room or something..." he muttered.
