well, i had thought about that, in my thought processes about getting a crockpot. but wouldn't that mean all the ingredients are assembled, in the fridge, already put together, just... sitting. i can't explain it without it getting.... weird, misconstrued. all the ingredients are, err, sitting, soaking, uhm.

ok, say i'm making steak and potatoes... and green beans. (wow, that sounds good. okay.) i put everything in the crock pot at night - steak, potatoes, green beans, gravy. wouldn't everything be all gravy-infused and soggy in the morning?

also, again, younger daughter is quite picky with what she eats, and i don't think (right now) it would work out if i did get a crockpot. maybe when she goes to college though....

I mean...the gravy will, presumably be in it when it cooks anyway? And since most crockpot meals have to cook anywhere between 4-10 hours, it's all going to end up gravy infused anyway?

It's sitting for hours anyway, whether it cooks or not. Though, personally, I'd avoid putting the inner pot in the fridge if I was going to cook with it later. I'd just cut and wash everything and put it back in the fridge. Then it's ready to go when I do decide to put it in a pot.

And I'm just one, but I make a big pot and freeze the extra. They do make little size crock pots though. I like it because stewing meats like chuck or round are cheaper than steak cuts. I also buy those bags of little yellow potatoes that I can just inspect and throw in. Of course, buying for just me allows that I can be a little more choosy than when I include other people. If I were to by a big bag of russets, they would just go bad.

For the record, my current stew has chuck, potatoes, and green beans ;) (and carrots.)

I neglected my book today.

So, I've actually been reading quite a bit lately, which has been nice! Except I always go for my heavy books, which makes it difficult to find a good position with my injured wrist...but it's not so bad.

We're all mad here.
I usually only hold a large book with one hand, or just rest something on it to keep the pages open. Lap pillow? I got a pregnancy pillow when I was in hospital with my stomach tumour and it was the best thing for resting stuff on while I worked with it.

Still taking my time with my book. I like it. I don't normally read bios or those feel good things, but I find myself smiling or telling mom about something I just read.

My older sister got a copy for Christmas as well, so if I don't finish it, I'll leave my copy at my mom's for her to read, and borrow her's.

I should get one of those!
I tend to hold my book with one hand and use the other hand to turn the pages. Unfortunately, my big books are too heavy for my sprained wrist and it's tough to turn the pages with it. So I've mainly just been propping them in my lap and hunching over a bit to read them. Not the most comfortable position, but it works.

Ah. I hunch, but that might now be part of the reason for my iffy neck and shoulders. Can you rest it on a forearm and turn the pages with the good hand?

We're all mad here.
I brought a book with me to Scandinavia when I went. A number of hostels had book exchanges where people dropped off what they read and picked up other stuff. Handy when packing light I suppose, but I didn't want to leave my copy of Thomas the Rhymer behind. Given that I gave it away some time ago, I probably could have.

Also this!

I found one of their books sitting in the library student's resource room.
