Default Curse you disc drive! -shakefist-   #1
So I have 5 years worth of my photography on various CD-Rs and I am now working on trying to copy all the photos to my external hard drive since it'll actually have room for them all.

My problem? I just put in the first disc, easily the one with the fewest pictures on it, and the window I opened to look at the files has frozen. This does not bode well for this project...

Cheap CD-Rs degenerate over time, making them unsuitable for long-term storage. I'm sorry. :(

I've had the same problem, before.

I'm sorry, love!

And actually, that sounds like a really good idea... -stares at her external-

Yeah I knew they weren't the best for long term, but I didn't have money for an external until last December. And I didn't think of copying them all to the external until just last week.

Luckily I got it all done. With about 20 corrupted files out of all the discs I copied over. Most of them from the 2006 section too so it figures.

Also all my pictures took up about 80GB on my external. xD
