I don't mind Christmas music,
But only after Halloween at the very least. I hate some of the same old tired Christmas songs though... "Baby it's cold outside" is a creepy song if I've ever heard one.. And "My Favorite Things"?? How is that even a Christmas song?! "My car it is my life... and like my life it carries me around." --- My Bubba and Mi Picture drawn by ~isa~

My all time favourit Christmas song, mostly because it's rarely played in malls, is Dominick the (Christmas) Donkey. It's an adorable song, and you get to "HEE-HAW HEE-HAW!" along with the song.

I used to listen to Hawaiian radio in the winter when I lived in Minnesota,
On the Hawaiian stations they play mostly local music, and there was one song I loved called, "Christmas Once Again In Honolulu" and I really enjoyed that song! "My car it is my life... and like my life it carries me around." --- My Bubba and Mi Picture drawn by ~isa~

The woman in the song actually does want to stay overnight with the man in the song, and is making the excuses that society expects her to make to "reject" his advances, aka what a "good girl" should say. He's responding in a way that signals to the woman that he knows she's just saying what society expects her to say, and he's saying "honorable" reasons she could give as excuses as to why she stayed over should people start to gossip about her virtues. Also, the line "Say, what's in this drink?" is meant to be humorous, as at that point in time, most drinks were made with very little alcohol in them, if any at all. Again, an example of her saying what society would've expected her to say in her position. At the end of the song, they sing in harmony, having come to an understanding and having gone through all the motions and expectations of society, and understand that they both desire the company of the other. I use She/Her and They/Them pronouns.

I guess it makes sense given the time it was written...
But it's definitely creepy by today's standards. It really give me a weird feeling in my stomach whenever I hear it... Literally, if it starts playing on the radio when I'm listening, I'll shut it off and just wait in silence until I think it's long over... Yeah, nowadays? It's on par with the "Every Breath You Take" song.

Ugh! That's a creepy song too!
I used to like the beat of it, But then I listened to the lyrics and since then when I hear it, it makes my tummy feel sour. "My car it is my life... and like my life it carries me around." --- My Bubba and Mi Picture drawn by ~isa~

I think it depends. In my case it was literally caused by my heavy periods so it mostly fixed it. Iron is on the low side when I do blood check-ups, but not officially anemia anymore.

Another note on the Baby It's Cold Outside song is that the guy who wrote it came up with it to sing with his wife at a party to amuse their friends. I don't really think he was thinking about assaulting his wife when he wrote it and I doubt she would have sang it in front of their friends if she thought that was what it was about.

You'll always feel it, but can never see it. It's strong but shatters easily. You can give it away but never hold it. What is it? Pm me the answer, no cheating please!

I still kinda find that to be creepy...
Considering the song is supposed to make it seem like he was attempting to make her stay over for (presumably) sex, yeah? Why would you sing about something like *that* in front of your friends? And at a party, no less? I guess parties back then were like giant orgies or something??? I can't imagine going to a party and then "entertaining" my friends by teasing my husband with the will-they-won't-they of sex. You make a point. I don't think that would be something I would do in front of my friends either...

it wasn't about making her stay over for sex. it was that the female singer wanted to stay over, but because of society's expectations, she had to keep refusing, and the male singer was giving her reasons to provide if anyone tried to disparage her reputation or make her out to be a loose woman.

Baby it's cold outside is a standard "call and answer" song. It comes off as creepy now because women are more liberated, so the idea that it's only okay to have sex if you have the appropriate excuses is outdated.
pretend it's not talking about sex and it's talking about something else she wants to do that she's afraid of people judging her for. She's giving all the arguments society will give and he's giving her counters to them. Edit: As far as whether that's party appropriate, sex is actually a fairly common topic between adults. granted, maybe not in mixed company, but still. It was and is common enough that it's played every Christmas, along with several other songs constantly played that are clearly about sex

It's staying over at a man's house overnight that causes the accusations, even if nothing happens
