Empire of Illusion : The End of Literacy & The Triumph of Spectacle By Chris Hedges

Especially in today's time, its a fascinating read. It explores the new focus of our society in regards to what we find important and how we think about and view the things that make up American culture. Not too wordy for those who want something they can actually understand. You know clearly what the Author is talking about and he provides excellent references in his book.

“The Dreamer awakes
The shadow goes by
The tale I have told you,
That tale is a lie.
But listen to me,
Bright maiden, proud youth
The tale is a lie;
What it tells is the truth.”

― Traditional folktale ending

My main ones lately have been First Rider's Call and Stranger in a Strange Land, but I technically have probably 7 or 8 others in progress as well.

It's an incredible read with a really high Victorian feel and sense and it's super well written!!

At the moment I'm reading Dead Men's Trousers by Irvine Welsh. Though I've been at this for a couple months now and I can't remember the last time that I picked it up. I need to get myself back into the habit of reading a little before bed each day, but that just doesn't always happen...clearly haha!

Right now I'm reading Time for the Stars by Robert Heinlein, Edgar Cayce's Story of Egypt by Steve Van Auken, and Reaching to Heaven by James van Praagh. Three books at once and I almost started a fourth but stopped myself, just in time!

We're all mad here.
Just picked up The Last Wish as I was interested in The Witcher stories. It's not what I thought it was, and personally, I find it less edgy than the game seems to try and imply, probably because I already read stuff that is grim dark and this book is just stepping towards it.

My main focus lately has been on In The Garden of Beasts by Erik Larsen, though, as always, I have several ongoing books.

☾ Jobless, Reckless, Clueless by Revathi Suresh. It's the first time I'm reading Indian YA, and there actually isn't much Indian YA out there despite plenty of Indian writing in English for children and adult audiences. I'm excited because YA has always been one of my favourite fiction categories and I always bemoaned that most YA wasn't closer to home.

Buying Runes.
PM if you're selling?
