The newest addition to Mass Effect 3, Omega which will be released November 27th, will involve Shepard teaming up with Aria the infamous queen of Omega and a mysterious female Turian named Nyraan to take Omega back from Cerberus.

Appearance of female Turians has been released, specifically this is the female Turian Nyraan who you will team up with along side Aria during the Omega DLC. They resemble the male Turians but of course have distinct differences that set them apart.

There has also been a video, here, revealing the first 15 minutes of the Omega DLC where you are seen with Aria, your only companion, and you also see when Nyraan joins you. Just like any other companions you can play around with their powers.

Unfortunately this means that you can not bring a companion of your choice with you, at least that is what it looks like at the moment. It is not clear yet if Aria and Nyraan will be your companions throughout the entire DLC or for a few missions. It is also not clear if they will become permanent companions or if they are just temporary for the DLC.

The DLC is worth 1,200 Microsoft Points and will be twice the size of Leviathan, being 4 gigs. I'm honestly excited for this DLC to be released, what do you guys think about it?

Honestly, I'm excited for it. Should be a good addition to the universe.

The only downside though is that once you leave Omega after finishing it, you can't go back. Also, your only team mates the entire mission series will be Aria and Nyreen.

Overall, it should be worth it though.

I seriously can't wait for this to be released. Wish you could return to Omega after finishing the missions and the like, but still, should be exciting and interesting.

Well, it should be released today....actually, should be already out. Going to get it when I get home for sure, but won't be able to get to it until later.

Bioware what the fuck.

Earlier I watched a live stream of the DLC because I decided I would play it anyways so I might as well take a look and see what the DLC is all about. It's a good DLC but I really don't think that it's worth 1,200 Microsoft Points at all. List below is what I liked and not necessarily what I disliked but what I found displeasing/confusing/odd/etc.

Disliked

● They said it was going to be twice the size of Leviathan, which is 2 gigs, but the Omega DLC is only 2 gigs itself. Correction it is actually 1.9 gigs.

● After the mission everyone aboard the Normandy doesn't seem to acknowledge what you did, there is no new dialogue for anyone.

● Aria is still on the Citadel in Purgatory after you take back Omega, why? I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me. She has one new dialogue option and has a different line when you end the conversation.

● There is no 'romantic' scene with Aria, though this may be because this particular Shepard was already locked into a relationship.

● You can not return to Omega after you take it back, which is really disappointing.

● There is not a new squadmate, not really surprising but I was hoping for a new one.

● Nyreen Kandros is an absolutely amazing character but she dies and her death is very unsatisfying. I don't mind if a character dies but her death was both unexpected and unappealing. Mordin died, his death was good, he cured the genophage and saved the Krogan. That's a good death, this death was not good.

● The confrontation with General Petrovsky is both boring and flat. Aria lets him go and leaves his fate up to you which is ridiculous, she should have killed him to avenge her friend.

● The gameplay before the confrontation with General Pretrovsky is difficult, it's tedious and you have to take your time to avoid dying constantly during it.

● At some parts the dialogue can be awkward and the characters seem stiff.

● The ending was boring, it's as if they had no clue how to end it and simply ended it at the peek of the DLC's climax.

● At the end you get General Petrovsky's chess board. Here guys, we killed the first female Turian, you can't go back to Omega, the length of the DLC isn't what we said it would be, Aria is still in Purgatory which doesn't make sense, you can't romance Aria, but here you go a fancy chess board that goes in your cabin that you can't even interact with!

● It seems that this DLC is better for a player who is doing a Renegade playthrough than a Paragon. Which is extremely unappealing and disappointing.

● You only get an additional 300 EMS points at the end of the DLC which is pathetic.

Liked

● The dialogue is decent, it's captivating.

● The cutscenes are great and flow well with the game play.

● The gameplay is great and flows well.

● The characters are great in their own unique ways. I'm absolutely in love with Aria T'loak even more now and Nyreen Kandros.

● If Renegade you get to shoot General Petrovsky in his ugly Cerberus ass-kissing face.

● You are introduced to new enemies, both Cerberus and Reapers which is interesting.

● As always the music is great for the DLC and sets the mood perfectly!

Other thoughts

● I wanted to really see Patriarch and Mordin's assistant who opened a clinic on Omega. As well as other familiar faces. However you see neither, instead you see the preaching Batarian, the one hollering in ME2 about humanity being a blight. What the fuck.

● It would have been nice for Nyreen Kandros to appear near the end to help Aria and Shepard kill General Petrovsky. It really seemed as if they were setting that up, I couldn't believe that they just killed her off so suddenly without warning. But she didn't end up appearing and was gone for good. I honestly 100% believe that if she showed up it would have made the DLC way better.

● Would have been nice to see more Reapers, more alluding to the fact that Omega was crafted by the Reapers ( which is blatantly mentioned in the book Mass Effect: Retribution ). They could have done so much with the DLC, perhaps had another scene where you confront a Reaper, but there was none of that.

● Perhaps Aria die and Nyreen replace her as the ruler of Omega, they set it up to seem like that may be a possibility as well. Aria was trapped at one point and her fate seemed grim, I would have been upset if she died but it would have flowed well within the DLC.

● I think it would have been great if we could return to Omega after the DLC and interact with the people there and to see Aria there rebuilding her empire. I actually really don't understand why they didn't add that, I don't.

● At least have Aria leave Purgatory, it simply does not make any sense to have her there anymore. How can she maintain control over Omega and oversee the rebuilding of it as well as the protection if she is not present at all times? Yes she does have individuals who are loyal to her but what is there to stop the various gangs, and people, from rising up and taking hold of Omega?

● New dialogue for the crew aboard the Normandy would have been nice and very simply to apply after the DLC has been played. Which is why I do not understand why no one had new dialogue after the DLC.

Of course this was all during a playthrough where this Shepard was already locked into a relationship and the load was right before the final mission. The DLC may be incredibly different and have a much broader affect on the game before the end. I'm doing a playthrough currently and will have to see this for myself, if I even decide to purchase it of course. It just seems to be too expensive for something that I'm not impressed with.

This is my personal opinion.

I'm actually so disappointed with Bioware and EA right now. The DLC had so much potential, they could have done so much with it. The fact that Omega was built by the Reapers is compelling and they could have taken the DLC to another level but they did not ( this is mentioned in Mass Effect: Retribution, a book ).

A part of it has to be due to the length limit, Microsoft has a 2 gig limit for DLC. If that's the case then Bioware should have released the DLC in two parts for 600 Microsoft Points each or a lower price than that in order to fit everything that they originally intended to fit into the DLC. They did claim that it would be twice the size of Leviathan, and it is not. It is smaller than Leviathan.

I'm kinda conflicted because I do like it but then I think about all of the flaws and what they could have done and that bothers me.

I don't hate Bioware or EA for releasing this DLC. I'm not going to stop playing Mass Effect, I still love Mass Effect ( I'm the definition of a fangirl ), but I am simply disappointed with what they did with this DLC.

Well, from what I've read so far (having not played it). They did what they saw best with what they had in the universe at the time with what time they gave to it. My big thought is they might release another part to it later or tie it more into later DLC. It is part of the series, and any release is going to have ups and downs to be sure.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, it's just that the flaws for me overshadow the pros with this DLC. I'm waiting to see if other players received different outcomes for the DLC in hopes that I can have a better experience of it.

Honestly if they release DLC later that ties in with the DLC they've released and expect us to pay... That's a load of horse shit. Selling us unfinished content and then selling us the rest later.
