One the one hand, I hate giving up since ai'm almost halfway through, but on the other hand, when you basically insult the readers that you're trying to educate, that's not gonna fly with me. *strikes book from list*

That's infuriating, to be honest. If you don't think people will listen to you, then don't write a book.

Well, that frees up a little time for reading better, less pretentious authors! Although it was my only non-fiction book in a while...

It's Halloween, read a creepy non-fiction about a haunted place, or a serial killer's biography, or a tale of strange autopsies or something!

I don't own any of those and I almost never am free to get to the library when they're open, so there's almost zero chance I'll be able to get a book AND read it this month. But if my friend and I hang out next week (if I have any days off at al), then maybe I can talk him into swinging by barnes and noble anyway.

It seems like all I get around to reading anymore is non-fiction. Mostly research for my historical stuff though. I should put together a list of books for next year, since I probably won't be able to hit my goal this year.

I tend to find myself reading the same books over and over which is a rubbish habit I need to stop.

There is nothing wrong with rereading boijs that you enjoy!
It is good to mix it up with new ones occasionally though.

Honestly, I almost never read non-fiction books. Probably because of being forced to read dull autobiographies in grade school. Plus history, which generally was such a broad spectrum that we would literally spend half the year on the same things we always covered and barely skim anything interesting (literally any world history OUTSIDE of the U.S.). I have found the historical fiction novels of Erik Larson to be fairly interesting, if a bit on the tedious at times.
Correction: apparently his novel The Devil in the White City is just considered true crime by Barnes and Noble, so his other novels are probably just considered histories. *shrug*

i have a biography of Aaron Burr on my reading list, as well as the Alexander Hamilton bio by Ron Chernow, the one that inspired the musical. but i'm wondering if i want to find a different Hamilton bio, one that i don't need a small suitcase to carry it around in.... i won't read ebooks, so... yeah.

So deeply amused by this...

I've found reading non-fiction to be much more interesting now that I am able to choose my own subject matter.

I don't think I'll ever be able to get into non-fiction about U.S. wars or presidents, but I have peeked a bit at the top books in the historical non-fiction and true crime sections on the B&N website and there are some that sounded interesting. And I would love to read some more about the world wars, especially from non-U.S. standpoints.
