That's... strange. *headscratch, inspects logs* That really doesn't make any sense and I'm not sure how that could happen given the code. But I can also confirm that you haven't, like, spent them, and that even if somehow the trade managed to get through the error checks despite your trade partner NOT actually having enough runes that you would have still gotten them even if your partner didn't lose them.

This is, in a word, WEIRD.

I would say that the only possible explanation I can see would be if your runes were somehow negative before the trade, except there's an error check for that too (if you have negative aurum or negative runes the trade system will deny your trade because you don't have the 0 aurum/runes that you're offering).

I've given you the runes because as far as I can tell this is a one-in-a-million flub, but I'm going to go study the code some more to see what's going on.
