-crashes through wall- I heard decently written S&M
I honestly don't have a lot to say about paranormal romance. I find them all... kinda trite to be honest. I just -shrug- Once upon a time in a different lifetime (college) I would write paranormal romance stories for people on fiverr. It was basically all the same story but with different character details. It was incredibly boring but it paid. Answer my riddle to earn a prize!

It was actually really soul sucking after a while since it wasn't really creative writing so much as writing the same script over and over again.

Lol. I could just picture you saving the same basic template and just changing names and character details as needed. XD
(I know that's not really how it would work, but it's funny to picture!) Pretty cool that you got paid to write, but sad that it had to be that kind of

I preferred ghostwriting to be honest. I didn't mind if someone else put their name on my work so long as I got paid. XD
If you like the Mortal Instruments you should try reading the Uglies series if you haven't already. It was a favorite for a while when I was in high school. Answer my riddle to earn a prize!

Ah yes, I have fond memories of the Uglies series as well, even though I've never read Mortal Instruments.
And what's that talk about decently written S&M? So far most books I got my hands on read disappointing for me in that way, either too exaggerated, too plain, or using the S&M parts as a plot device to outlaw minor side characters. Justine by de Sade, while slightly amusing, has proved not much more but a shallow concatenation of violence, whereas Reage's Story of O left all its characters twodimensional, like a tale of endless searching yet never truly arriving anywhere. I don't blame authors, I guess it's just incredibly hard to transform one's fantasy into a captivating plot, to preserve that electric sensation which tingles down the spine and makes a person crave for more. Ironically my standards are much lower when it comes to more casual books. I've read quite a few novels I basically considered junk and yet still enjoyed reading. They were like... bad in a way that's also amusing ^^

some of the early Anita Blake books have well-written smut, but that's just my opinion....
also, i enjoy most of the books i read. there's like three i remember not finishing... and one that i finished but just didn't really like all that much

I never finished Les Miserables, but that wasn't because I didn't enjoy the story - rather because the edition I got my hands on had such incredibly thin paper I always grabbed two or three pages when turning and then had to go back and separate them from each other. It became too tedious after a while.

I started reading yesterday! I had computer issues and had to step away from the internet, which is great because I never get off the internet. First time I ever was glad my computer quit working, I thought, well sheeet now I can read! I started with the book my sister got me for Christmas, Andrea Dworkin's memoir and I'm loving it. I told my sister "I really am relating with Andrea here" and my sister said "That's why I bought that for you." >.< Feels good. Like a real compliment.
