T~T; I feel like this Christmas was really boring and sorta pointless. :c Which is a bummer, because I like Christmas. But it feels like Frozen now, which was hyped up way too much and in the end, I couldn't get into it, until it was long over.
Is this what Christmas has become? =~= *flops into pillow* Boring? Overrated? Dull?...Happiness and excitement reserved for only 12 hours?

;_; Maybe it's the depression, maybe it's me thinking too hard. *buries self in sand* Blrbh..

I feel you, Merskelly :(
I haven't celebrated Christmas in like three years now?
I moved to LA from Minnesota, and Christmas in Minnesota was all about the snow and the cold and the aesthetic... Here in Southern California, though... the weather is mostly the same all year around. Although it's been a little chillier than usual...

Since we were busy packing stuff in 2015, that was the year we stopped celebrating and we threw out our old fake tree... And we don't have any decorations either.

We aren't even going to cook a fancy meal or anything..
Literally, Christmas for my parents and I is just December 25th. Nothing special about it at all anymore...

it's probably capitalism. that, and the depression from capitalism combined with the days being awfully short, which creates a deficiency in vitamin D.

:/ I still gotta participate in my family cooking and stuff, even though I just wanna do nothing but watch my favorite Christmas movies, eat cookies, and decorate. :[ However with the atmosphere and the all around environment here, if just doesn't feel like Christmas. <:/

But I make it Christmas for me anyway, by sleeping in front of the tree every Christmas now. -U- The lights are relaxing and warm, and I always feel a little holiday spirit sleeping with the music on. I call this new individual tradition, "Guarding the Tree". <xD

well, it is ok if you are tired and need to recharge your internal battery. it sucks but it is better than emptying out

eh, xmas is a child holiday. it's only fun if you are not in charge of making it come together, once you have to share the stress and burden of it then it's not really any fun anymore

I used to love hosting Christmas parties with my parents at our house...
But our house was pretty much made for entertaining. My parents had it built to their preferences, so...

But now that I live in an apartment and it doesn't snow here...
It just feels like any other average day. Nothing special,

Yeah, my parents designed it and had it built the way they wanted..

I was a toddler when that house was built, so my mom wanted an open floor plan where the kitchen was opened up to the family room (which was separate from our living room) so that she could cook and still watch me while I played in the family room.

So as I got older, when we hosted parties, people could easily walk into the kitchen, grab food and still be able to talk to people who were hanging out in the family room.

You wanna know what's crazy, though?

That was the second house my parents have built. And growing up, I thought my house was small. Even though we had like four bedrooms, I had my own bathroom, we had three levels and like really enormous ceilings.

The other houses in our neighborhood were built from a "template" but ours was completely unique.

And I lived in that house for like 22 years.
I am now realizing that I was really, really lucky to have that huge house mostly to myself since I was raised as an only child.

it makes sense though. you had no really concept of privilege as a child and your parents certainly didn't have a conversation with you about it x''D

I was soooo privileged as a child!
And it feels so weird to look back at it now!

Unfortunately, I did have some struggles with it, like, when my mental health started to go bad... My parents were like, "You had absolutely everything you could have ever wanted! You have no reason to have mental health issues!!!"
