My Name is Grief

Woe be the heavy heart that burdens me
Thy sorrow baring fruit like ripened trees
A poison ; Seeping slow through flesh & bone
To stifle life, and calmly rot away the soul
Like a christening from murky waters deep
A sea of emptiness do gathered waters reap
In darkest crevices of mind & soul I nest
& thieve all pure affections from gilded breast
Oh beast of agony, I beg reprieve!
Is death thy only path to sweet relief?
