So. It has come to this. After endless days of self-exile beyond any instrument of judgment or justice your petty minds could contrive, I am here, at the extremity, the precipice. I have had a great deal of time to think, especially regarding my so-called crimes. And of all you lovely souls who have brought me to this measure. May Heaven ever honor your zealous indignation, the righteous hands with which you excruciate the guilty. I shall take but one thought with me to the gallows, or the block, or whatever torturous end you feel my sins must merit: that none of you, not one, truly understands conviction.
