I can only assume it's cause they were made in the image of humanity. Though... do we know who actually designed the YoRHa androids? If it was Crispin Freeman 2x creepy girl AI, it's possible the YoRHa are similar to Adam and Eve, and made to be as similar to humans as possible while still serving as a evolutionary pressure to the machines.

I can't even bring myself to keep playing after finishing the story. It just doesn't feel right to go back to it.
