It is entirely possible that it is Firefox itself then. I've never had any trouble with it as a browser, then again I haven't used it for quite some time. It could also be something that is booting itself up when Firefox starts as well.

Try what Ashy is suggesting while you have everything running that you normally do and that should allow you to find the culprit.
