He wasn't going to really take the fairies word for what she was saying, he figured she was just toying with him even if she did want him to be happy he wasn't going to go change just because it seemed to annoy her. Besides even if she was telling the truth about not really messing with him nothing could happen between a fairy and a dryad. It wasn't heard of probably some rule against it that was never voiced.
