Gathering up everything else, she followed him out the door, hoping beyond hope that the suddenly loud thumping of the club wouldn't wake Lukas as they scooted upstairs with him. As they got to the door, she quietly cracked it open for Duryn to enter before her, smiling and waving at the sitter, motioning the girl to the corner so they could talk.
"We need to go out for just a little longer. Are you sure you're ok with staying? Lukas just got to sleep again a little while ago. You shouldn't have a problem with him. If we don't get back before Tiri gets up, let her choose her cereal, then help her get her stuff together for school. She knows where everything is here. She just needs supervised. Someone should be around around 7:30-ish to get her."
The girl nodded and smiled, saying she was more than fine with it; after all, they had unlimited cable.
Grinning at the sitter, she moved into Lukas' room, leaning against the door frame, watching lovingly as Duryn laid his son down. She didn't think she'd ever get tired of watching the two together. It was such an endearing sight.
