Season 1 is over, they're filming season 2 now. We'll see how many seasons they get to. There's 5 books so far, supposedly there will be 7 total, but George R. R. Martin is the slowest writer ever, and he's nearly 70 years old, so, yeah. :|

And, yeah, I agree about castles, it's just... Game of Thrones is supposed to be realistic. :p

And, honestly, I think all of the violence in the show is over the top. Ser Hugh's death at the tournament when he jousted with Gregor was just disgusting. There was no need for... what was it, five gurgles of blood up close?

Oh, and if you don't like animal death scenes... watch out for the first scene of episode 7. :| Might want to skip that one if it bothers you that much.
