I totally and completely agree with you here - It'll be a cold day in hell before I agree to marry anybody. The symbolism of vowing to spend the rest of your life with someone is nice and all, but that nice picture of two people staying together forever was shattered with the invention of divorce. Like all things in this world even marriage is about one thing only: money. Having equal share in it, having rights to it, blahdy blah.
But that being said, I am happy that at least one state has recognized the LEGAL and FINANCIAL rights that its citizens should be allowed, regardless of sexual orientation. And for those people out there who do still believe in upholding marriage vows to be with the one you love, I do feel that this fight should make everyone think a little harder about just what it means to be true to someone for better or for worse.
