That depends if you are strongly allergic or just a little.
At first you need to wash your hands before eating or touching your eyes.
And if you do the litter then I suggestion you put something over your nose.
And it depends on your system..., but I know a couple of people who did that and live happy with their cat XD.

It's easier for me since he just cross from the couch to the extension of my desk beside me.
There is no space to stay in front XD.
I have a huge old screen since I am poor and so no space lol.
