This was what was on my friend MightyMaeve's livejournal about it.
Quote:
It might end up like putting white grain in my mouth, expecting the sweet, sweet angst of BL tease in ethereal adventure as only CLAMP can do, but having it transform not into succulent liquid, but shocking salt. Why? Because it's going to be serialized in Young Ace (a Kadokawa magazine), which maintains a steady stream of strongly seinen titles.
I don't think their readership would like steamy, meaningful glances and subtle wordings of terribly teasing BL, so I'm gonna assume that the tease will be gone...?
One can hope that Young Ace will make their readers squirm a bit... Heh. "Genres" (demographic market aims) are merging: girls read shounen/seinen titles; boys read shoujo/josei titles. Indeed, the manga stories themselves within each "genre" are starting to hold more complex varieties of merged aesthetics. It follows that the readership is also blending from the purely "boys club" and "girls club" stereotypes. Still, Legal Drug was originally serialized in the magazines Shoujo Teikoku and Asuka (also owned by Kadokawa), and both of these publications focused on psychological, supernatural shoujo stories. I wonder how much CLAMP will be forced to adjust their story from the original planned seven volumes...
Here's the news release:
The September issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Newtype magazine is announcing next Wednesday that the creator quartet CLAMP will start a new manga series of Legal Drug (Gōhō Drug) in the December issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine on November 4 (bold mine). The new series will once again feature the main lead characters Kazahaya Kudō and Rikuō Himura.
CLAMP published three volumes from 2001 to 2003 before putting the manga on hiatus in Japan. Tokyopop published the three manga volumes in North America between 2004 and 2005.
