Apparently people haven't heard of spelljammers. >.> Magic-based sci-fi is perfectly reasonable, and it definitely seems that's what Trisphee is using. It's a popular choice in Final Fantasy games, as well; magic and technology work together instead of competing with each other. Spaceships that travel due to magical forces instead of giant rockets (the aforementioned spelljammers) are just one common example in fiction.
