It was a sad story all in all. Yet it was a story heard often. Families crushed by the Queens grip. Rumors still hit them even as far out as they were. In the middle of no where news of family friends would come in sometimes. Mom and Dad would hide it. They would open letters while the girls were a sleep. It seems that Dad went to town more often then he let on. They would cry over the sad things and laugh over the good. Yet they would never share the stories with the girls. Asui had over heard them one night. The whispers so soft they barely would reach her ears.

"...Thats the third one this week. If the letters keep coming in this way we'll have to move. The Queen is killing all of us. Either she knows something or she's afraid of rebellion." Her mother dried the tears that were on her cheeks and held back a few more sobs.

"We'll be fine. I'll stop going to town for a while. They won't say anything there anyway, and if anyone asks why there are so many letters they will lie. Our sources always send mail safely. Magic or the like. You know that. We have to many contacts. We're safe. Most don't know enough of anything to tell anyone where we are. I know. We made sure of it. Covered our tracks. Things will be fine..." Her father moved his hand to his wives face to wipe away the last of her tears.

Asui flashed back to the present. To the elf walking away. She followed him silently. She hoped that his daughter would be okay. She hoped everything worked out. Just before the edge of the forest she stopped.

"You're right. You probably would bring your share of trouble, but I don't think its more then the trouble already following me. The Queen... She has it out for me...." She lifted the back of her shirt up as she turned toward him. She knew what the seal was, but not how rare until reading about it in the book. "...I'm the only child of the last Queen..."

She was taking a chance. Trusting that he might be willing to help her. Since their goals seemed to... follow the same train of thought. She turned back around and looked at him.

"We could... Work together? You help me and I'll help you. Sort of thing. If you want..."
"It's in the stars.
It's been written in the scars on our hearts.

Your head is running wild again, my dear.
We still have everythin'.
We're not broken, just bent.
I'll fix it for us.
Our love's enough. "
