The engine would most likely be diesel, which is best in our case. It can run off anything from gasoline to vodka. And solar power is going to be hard to wrangle for such a vehicle. That, and having to search for fuel is great, adds a bit more of that desperate feel to the role play that makes it show how apocalyptic things are. Fuel searching is like, half of any post apoc story. And an APC would be a hungry beast.
