Only one Persona per person! That Persona may eventually evolve, but you're not allowed more than one!
The main characters in the games have over a hundred, but they're special.
Almost every persona has elemental strengths and weaknesses. There are seven elements which are fire: agi, ice: bufu, electric: zio, wind: garu, light: hama, darkness: mudo, and almighty: megido. Each of these elements has three levels, with the exception of Hama and Mudo, and they can be used against a single enemy, or against groups of enemies if the prefix Ma- is in front of the element name.
The first level of these spells simply uses the element name. However, the higher levels use different suffixes. The level two spells have the suffix -la at the end, with the exceptopn of agi, hama, and mudo. These spells end in -lao and -on respectively. The third level spells, with the exception of Hama and Mudo again, all end in -dyne.
Almighty spells work slightly differently. These spells have no real element, and transcend any persona's elemental resistances and nullifications. They also cannot target any one specific opponent; all three levels of almighty attack targets an entire group of enemies. The three levels for almighty attacks are Megido, Megidola, and Megidolaon. This being said, Personae who use almighty attacks are fairly rare except in higher levels.
The elements have natural oppositions, too. The standard oppositions are agi:bufu, zio:garu, and hama:mudo. There are some cases where a different element is used in opposition, though, such as when a persona is strong against and uses agi type skills, yet is weak to zio or garu type skills.
I think we can stop here for today. Going over the elements and Persona limitations is a lot to take in.
