Never played Neverwinter Nights I'm afraid, but it sounds something to the Elder Scrolls issue of using spells in an active fight. Unless you're running backwards at high speed, casting anything offensive is likely to be a problem, especially if you attempt more than one shot.

Umm, what's "JRPG"?
