Local Weirdo
[ Rebels are gonna be showing up? Or do you mean Hunters? D: ]

At the sight of the younger boy's face twisting up in fear even further, Miles tightened the grip on the hilt of his sword, the black leather of it squealing against his gloved hand. Then the boy seemed to start disappearing. Miles squinted at what he saw and suddenly it was as though he had gotten struck over the head with his own weapon. His free hand clasped against the left side of his face and he grunted in pain.
As he hunched down, defenseless against the searing in his brain, flashes seemed to appear in front of his eyes for a swift, brief moment, and then they, along with the pain, were gone. It must have lasted for only thirty seconds, but as Miles stood upright again he could feel something. As he stared back down at the escapee, halfway faded away somehow, he could feel a desire to do what he had started and flee from this place.

The sound of a Hunter whistling, probably a second or third time since the first, broke him out of his revery. He turned his back to the younger boy and scanned the landscape in front of him. There were the scattered remains of human machinery, such as the two cars behind him, broken and desolate across it. This area could have been that of a small, friendly community four years ago, but now it was overgrown with plantlife, currently dry from the overbearing heat. If there had been buildings and houses they were just rubble now. Farther out than a normal human being would be able to see, Miles caught the shadow of something moving amongst a group of trees and greenery several hundred yards away. They weren't far.

He wasn't even sure why he was doing this, but he was going to do it anyway. Some force in the back of his mind was telling him to, and somehow he knew it was best to listen to it and not ask questions.
"Go crouch behind that car. Keep doing that camouflage thing you're doing, and do not move until I tell you to. Follow?"
Miles spoke the command without glancing back at the other kid, his sights still set on the figures darting back and forth now only about two hundred yards away. At least he would have some element of surprise. The Hunters, Miles counted about three of them, would not be expecting a Soldier to take up arms with them. Rather, they were probably figuring that he was waiting for them to reach him so that he could report what he knew about the whereabouts of the escaped trainee, and hand him over if he had found him.

[ I guess I'm gonna stop here so that I don't go on too long and don't give you room to reply haha. Planning on a little fight scene so it might have just gone on a little too long I guess. ^^; ]
