I did the pen pal thing in junior high but it was only a couple letters until the other person didn't send a letter back. I think I tried again with someone in France so we could both brush up on the other's language but again..only a couple letters before no reply again. It would probably be fun but I don't have the funds for gifts and just exchanging letters is probably easier by e-mail for me anyways.
