Wayward Victorian Doll
Within of of the inn's many rooms, a few dull thumps followed by a sudden crash and clatter indicated somebody breaking through wood. A small, lean body came tumbling from the remains of what once had been crate resting in the corner of the room. Brown eyes blinked twice, taking in the scene with calm curiosity, before the body they belonged to began to right itself from its sprawled position on the floor.

The girl - or rather, the thing in the shape of a girl - knelt upright and took in the sight of the broken crate, wondering where she was, and why she had arrived nailed shut inside of her little wooden home. The last thing she remembered was looking up from the mangled and bloody body of a human; a fairly common occurrence, so much so that she wouldn't have been able to say which body it had been or at what time she had seen it.

Drifting easily from her reverie, the doll looked down instead at herself. Her clothes had been torn away at some point, with the exception of her stockings (which she noted, with disappointment, were marred with several holes and tears) and a strong black corset which she had never seen before. Lightly touching the part of her torso that the article covered, she felt an alarming crackling of ceramic pieces underneath, and she came to the conclusion that it was probably best to leave it for the time being.

She stood, and a red ribbon fell from her shoulders. Crying out with pleasure, the doll picked up the ribbon and wrapped it lovingly around herself. She vaguely remembered the ribbon as being a gift, and a special one at that.

Satisfied that there was nothing left to see in the room, the doll staggered for a moment while she regained her balance, then skipped and leapt with inhuman speed passed the bed and furniture in her current room and out the door, whooshing by several similar doors down the hallway, down a set of stairs, passed more doors in another hallway, and down an even longer set of stairs. The doll was starting to wonder if maybe doors and hallways and stairs was all that this new place had to offer when she finally skidded to a stop at the bottom of a staircase, tumbling forward slightly into a vast room - a lobby, it might be called.

She stumbled around the place, taking in the sight of it and not realizing that she had eventually stumbled her way into another room, this one having a bar and several tables and chairs and other things, some of which she tripped over and crashed into. There were people in the room, and none of them human, so the doll ignored them and began to play with the broken pieces of the furniture that she had demolished, humming happily to herself as she did.
