In the interview I read, the guy was basically touting it as simplified and streamlined, skipping the middle-man. If you want to be goon at magic, don't wring your hands over intellect or willpower, just increase Magic and have done with it.

I personally think that's a terrible idea and that it cuts down on character versatility. Which one of those three covers social interaction, for instance? Or sneaking? I just can't see how that would ever work.
