Some people enjoy having empowerment over others so they hold a grudge for far too long. It's a stupid, petty reason, and the only explanation I can think of as to why they don't want to get over it is because of that. I really don't know, being with others who will defend you if they start it up again is good and I think you should try to meet them. Communication is always the first step to making bad things go away.
