William stared at her as she spoke, her words surprising him. As she turned he stood, not understanding why he did so. "Wait!" He said, then instantly closed his mouth as to prevent any more unnecessary words from coming out. He swallowed loudly.

"Why? I understand protecting yourself, but why protect me? I don't matter to you, and I certainly wouldn't do the same for you." He said icily. The last part was a lie. A pure lie, but he had always been a good lier. She couldn't see through him, could she? After all she had heard him crying her name. What would she think.
