Horace tried to make a warm smile at the young woman, but age and the like had withered it down to something more like a baring of one's fangs. Nonetheless, he was a friendly man, and was glad for some human company.

"It's a fine pleasure to meet you. Don't mind my looks, they're just not used to strangers." He thought himself a funny man, though he was becoming ever more aware that he wasn't. Despite that, the jolly way he said thing seemed to make people laugh. "Lift yer head, ma'am, this is a dig site, not an office! We're all friends here. I don' mind if ya want me to call you by any fancy titles, that's a gentleman's duty and such, but I'd like if you'd just call me Horace, er whatever you might like." He put his hand out, "I shake the hand of my fellow man, if ya please." any formality he might have had in his voice faded, as he hoped to make the woman comfortable, by opening up his own casual attitude towards other people. Outside of work, Horace was a casual man, disliking when he had to be strict, but knowing when it was necessary.
