When Serus was set down, she had barely regained consciousness. Her face became contorted with pain and she quickly rolled to her belly with her arms around her torso. She buried her face in the pillow and screamed. After a moment, she had passed out again, the pain overloading her brain.

Jaelynn awoke as Serus was suddenly yelling. Her body ached beyond her wildest imagination, but she could not fall back into the sweet bliss of unconsciousness. She sluggishly opened her eyes, muttering something incomprehensible.
