Has anyone else heard of a craft called Book Altering?

I am currently working on a book box. I have all of the pages glued together, cut out, and the inside and outside have been primed and ready for acrylic/oil painting. I painted the outside black and also did a white outline of a half-face of a girl on the cover. I don't know what else to add to it. I thought about sprinkling glitter on the inside when it's done because it's kinda like a self-portrait, only in book form. Kinda like a "story of my life" type of dealio.

I'm just struggling with what to add. I was thinking ribbons, lace, and collage, with random objects inside of the box that represent me. I dunno. I don't want it to be too corny or anything. If anyone has any other ideas please throw them at me =)
