I have to have rules in my roleplays. It weens out the people who make characters who are ultra-powerful god-being orphan children half-angel-half-demon oh so beautiful cries diamond tears also super nice and loving and not stuck up at all people are just attracted to him/her, and the people who seem to think that just because something is mentioned in the narrative of a post it's automatically "known" by the character (like names, before they're exchanged in dialogue), and the people who bring in anachronistic things into roleplays, or guns (which I never, ever allow in roleplays because they are just weapons of choice for god-moders).
I've had some stupid, stupid roleplayers get involved with me. The rules make them go away, and if I don't have the rules and tell them, "No, you can't have a motherfucking iPod in medieval Europe, you dunce." they whine that it was never mentioned before so how could they know?
True story.
