The man shrugged a bit, "Who knows..." There was a long silence as they continued down the streets. After about 4 blocks, he spoke again, "You don't have to answer this if you don't want to...but..how is it that you survived? Why weren't you killed with your parents? The law states the offspring must be destroyed as well." He frowned realizing how touchy of a subject this me.

Before she could answer, he felt he should apologize. "I'm sorry, but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me." He gently touched her cheek with a small smile. "Like I said, you don't have to answer if you don't want to."
