Her partner was living in the past, and what she was concerned with was the present and future. And they had spent far too much time into the project to just let them go back to living their old lifestyles, "They were born as experiments and will be used as such. I doubt you can convince the other elders to hand them over to you so easily since they had invested so much into making them." Obviously she had talked about herself as well. She was certain that the others would back her up as well.

Though that answer didn't put him at ease.
