Local Weirdo
Default   #17
Now clutching the mysterious music player in his hand, Will kept a neutral face as the girl whispered into his ear. As she sat back down into her wheelchair he just smiled a toothy grin at her and waved with the hand that held the device. He wasn't stupid enough to stand there with his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide. It actually wasn't such a surprise that she had already figured it out, he knew she was bound to sometime. Now the question was what to do about it.
There was still essential files that he needed to hack for Tech but he might not be able to do it from this position anymore.

The rest of the time they were outside he stayed in the shade of the tree, thinking about the situation calmly.
When they were finally told that the little picnic with the boss was over he began walking purposefully back to the building. Mason called his name and he turned to wait for the smaller man. He was breathing heavily when he reached Will, but he started talking before he could catch his breath.
"What... what did Miss Yuie... say to you?" he asked, gasping in between words.
Will shrugged nonchalantly in response, ignoring the looks from the other workers who were passing by.
"What does that mean? Nobody got that kind of attention... nobody ever really does," Mason said, a hint of disbelief in his words.
"She just wanted to get to know me a bit, say hello," he replied with a smirk.
Mason obviously didn't believe him, he wasn't stupid, but he let it drop and walked with Will back into the building. Everyone immediately returned to their desks and computers and got back to work. Will however spent the rest of the day thinking about his next move. It was a delicate situation and had to be handled correctly.

The day ended several hours later and Will left the large, high-tech building to only emerge to an even more high-tech city. The Future district. It was the most advanced and technology-rich district and held all other ones at its' mercy. All around there were sleek buildings, both ground and air vehicles, and gadgets held by every person roaming the streets. Out here he didn't stand out quite so much, as there were plenty of others who had fashion that stood out even more than his scarred head and face. He knew exactly where he was going and walked without anyone giving him a second glance.
After walking a few blocks away from his workplace he turned abruptly around a corner into a deserted alley, going all the way to the end before finding a hidden door in the smooth wall. The door opened into a cramped corridor which stretched for hundreds of yards, turns cutting sharply into the brick walls, not looking like the futuristic city outside at all.

Will meandered down the corridor for a good half hour before finally coming to a stop at a smooth white door that looked to belong on an alien spaceship. He rested his palm on the clean surface and watched it glow blue around his hand, scanning it down to the DNA.
With a soft hiss the door slid open and revealed a beeping, glowing space filled to bursting with computers, gadgets, and everything necessary for a hacker headquarters. Only one person was in the room at the moment, a man with his back to Will, hunched over in front of a smaller computer.
Will walked over to the man and dropped a tiny memory drive in front of him. The other Hacker's head popped up and looked at him, an annoyed look on his face.

The man was Tech, the leader of their group. He kept his age secret, but Will guessed that he was about thirty-three or so. He was fairly short at just five foot seven and had a thin body. His long black hair fell to the middle of his back but was almost always held up in a messy, tangled bun. Serious black eyes were centered in his pale face and one could rarely find any sort of smile on it.
"Did you get the files Digits?" he asked in a croaky voice, not spending any time for pleasantries. His long slim fingers closed around the fragile device and plugged it into a portable computer to his left.
"About that. Looks like we'll have to find another way to get them," Digits replied.
At that Tech whirled around in his chair, his dark brow furrowed and anger flashing in his eyes.
"What the fuck Digits?! How could you possibly screw this up?!" he yelled at him, saliva flying from his mouth onto Digits face. He really didn't know how to control his temper.
Staying calm, he reached up to rub the moisture from his skin, taking off his shades to wipe them onto his polo shirt.
Folding the shades and slipping them into his pocket he continued, "It's not how I screwed it up, it's how the little prodigy boss of that company isn't an idiot and figured it out herself."
Tech was standing now, glaring up at him with fury. Digits wasn't intimidated in the least, having gone through this time and time again, even having to show the leader what happened when you got too full of yourself and thought you could push him around. The older man still had the scars from those instances.
Even now, he could see the fear in the others' eyes, and he just grinned down at him.
"Don't worry leader, you'll get your little files. Just leave it to me."

[Phew... got a long one. xD]
