Oh, Espy, I missed your original post on that!
I've never actually used Java myself, and learning your first programming language can be a bit confusing. Plus if you don't have a good teacher it would be especially hard. So no, of course I wouldn't laugh at you <3 I can't really help because I don't know the language, but I wouldn't laugh <3
