I was about to say... there are plenty of very successful and consequently extremely rich people around here who didn't even finish high school. America is all about being competitive and having an entrepreneurial spirit.
But yes, even for most basic jobs (working at a fast food joint, being a housekeeper, etc.) you have to have your high school diploma or GED in America.
But the competition is intense if you're aiming for any career type of job. You need a ton of education. Even if you have a bachelor's it isn't worth jack crap these days.
Sadly education is very expensive in America. It's not unheard of for people to have half a million dollars in debt when they graduate.
